Your content bestie who actually gets it.
Twenty years of making people care about stuff they didn't know existed, from 227.4mph bikes to tiny local farm parks.
Fresh ginger tea. Pepsi Max. Clinique undereye concealer. A bold lip - usually bright pink. My iPhone, my Macbook Pro, or both. Snacks. ALL THE SNACKS.
Promising overnight success, or viral content. Pushing a one-size-fits-all posting strategy. Teaching tactics that only work with a giant team. Judging you for not knowing stuff.
Content shouldn't take more time than actually running your business. You don't need a huge following, you need the right one. "Going viral" is great for your ego but terrible for your bank account if it's the wrong audience. Social media should sell feelings, not things. If your content doesn't make you money, it's a hobby (which is fine, but let's be honest about it).
Well, I could tell you about the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (1,200% growth), or turning Formula E into the world's fastest-growing motorsport, or generating €51m for World Athletics, or launching HSBC' social media operations...
But what you really need to know is that I started Blake Social in 2012 because I was tired of seeing amazing businesses fail because they couldn't figure out social media. I've got over 20 years experience in content and social media, and I've seen every trend, hack and "guaranteed growth strategy" come and go.
Here's what actually works: understanding your audience, telling stories that make them feel something, and creating good content that doesn't take all your time.
When I'm not on your feed, I'm mum to two small humans, who love adventures, animals and food - pretty much in that order. You'll often find me working from a café or AirBnB. I don't hide my family life from my work because, honestly, they're part of why I'm good at what I do. Running a business while wrangling tiny humans means I have to make good content quickly. Every strategy I teach is battle-tested against, "I have 15 minutes before someone needs a snack".
Most of my work with smaller businesses is under NDA, which is code for "I've done this hundreds of times but can't name names". From nutritionists to interior designers, farm parks to golf courses, if you sell experiences or expertise, I've probably worked with someone like you.
